SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Police apprehended 34-year-old Timothy Hosey after seizing a loaded large-capacity firearm from him on the 0-100 block of Vadnais Street at around 2:40 p.m. on Jan. 31.
The incident began when officers spotted a vehicle driving on the wrong side of St. James Avenue, nearly hitting a child at the intersection.
The vehicle had a shattered rear window, and when police tried to stop the car, Hosey, who was driving, did not comply.
After a brief pursuit, Hosey parked in a driveway on Vadnais Street and fled on foot to the back of a house before returning moments later.
Officers discovered a firearm atop a pile of leaves in the vicinity and arrested Hosey.
The Springfield Police Detective Bureau is currently investigating the case.
Hosey, a Springfield resident, had previously been convicted of voluntary manslaughter for the 2005 killing of 23-year-old David Blank.
He served a 15-20 year prison sentence.
Hosey now faces charges including carrying a firearm without a license, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, carrying a loaded large capacity firearm on a public way, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and failure to stop for police.
