EVERETT — Investigators from the Everett Police Department concluded a months-long investigation into street-level narcotics sales in and around the City of Everett on Wednesday, resulting in the seizure of about 200 grams of the alleged narcotic fentanyl and the arrest of a male suspect on trafficking charges.
The joint operation, which also involved the Malden Police Department, Chelsea Police Department, Revere Police Department, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, and Melrose Police Department, targeted the distribution of illegal drugs within Everett and neighboring communities.
The male subject, whose identity has not been released pending formal charges, is expected to face charges related to the trafficking of fentanyl, an opioid that is significantly more potent than heroin and has been linked to a high number of overdose deaths across the country.
Further details regarding the arrest and the ongoing investigation are expected to be released as they become available.
