WORCESTER — Two suspects were arrested Thursday after a Worcester Police Department officer spotted a stolen Toyota Camry and initiated a traffic stop on Oberlin St.

The vehicle, reported stolen a day earlier from Cambridge St, was recognized by an officer while patrolling on Woodland St, leading to the swift apprehension of the car’s occupants.

Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer requested backup and proceeded to detain the driver and passenger.

Initially giving a false name, the driver was later identified as 34-year-old David Morales of Hooper St. He faces charges for using a motor vehicle without authority and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

The passenger, identified as 31-year-old Yesenia Davis of Vernon St, was also taken into custody.

Davis has been charged with use of a motor vehicle without authority, in addition to an outstanding arrest warrant.

The successful recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrests highlight the vigilant efforts of Worcester’s police force in combating vehicle theft and ensuring public safety.

Both suspects are awaiting further court proceedings.
