LAWRENCE — A Lawrence man has been arrested following a stabbing incident that left another adult male seriously injured and an infant child harmed on Monday afternoon.
Lawrence Police were called to the scene on Newbury Street around 4 p.m. after reports of an altercation.
Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim with apparent stab wounds.
An infant was also found injured, though not by stabbing.
The case is under active investigation by the Lawrence Police Patrol and Detectives Units, alongside the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit.
Authorities have indicated that the stabbing does not appear to be a random act of violence.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Santo Simon Tejeda Hernandez of Lawrence, is facing charges of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault and Battery Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
Hernandez is scheduled for arraignment today in Lawrence District Court.
Officials have reported that a second individual is in custody related to the incident and is expected to be arraigned at a later date.
