Great Barrington police arrest suspected cocaine dealer

GREAT BARRINGTON — Following a monthslong investigation, Great Barrington Police and the Berkshire County Drug Task Force arrested 28-year-old Jonah Christianson on charges related to cocaine trafficking after a search of his residence on Thursday.

The investigation, led by Great Barrington Police Officer Elias Casey, culminated in a search warrant executed at 47 Grove Street, where authorities discovered approximately 146 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, packaging material, and around $1,868 in cash.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs and money is about $16,618.

Christianson, who was identified as a suspected narcotics dealer, was held on $50,000 bail after being arraigned on Friday at Central Berkshire District Court.

He faces charges of trafficking cocaine in the amount of 100 to 200 grams and distribution of a Class B substance.

Also detained during the investigation was 21-year-old Kostantin Benson of West Stockbridge.

Benson was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned on February 1 at Southern Berkshire District Court for possession of a Class B substance.

The evidence, including the digital scale and narcotics, will undergo official analysis and weight verification at the State Lab.
