Falcon snowboarders sweep first place at Stowe competitions

NEWPORT — In a show of athletic prowess, both the girls and boys snowboarding teams from NCUHS achieved top honors Wednesday, taking first place in the Rail Jam competitions.

Willow Clements led the charge for the girls’ team, finishing second in the GS and claiming victory in the Rail Jam event.

Teammates Dakotah Bowen and Aine Remmers also put on strong performances, with Bowen taking third in the GS and second in the Rail Jam, while Remmers secured the 11th spot in the GS and rose to fifth in the Rail Jam. Ella Dillon rounded out the girls’ team effort with a 15th place finish in the GS.

The boys’ team mirrored the success of their counterparts, with Quinn Goff snagging second place in the GS. Elliot Goff, wasn’t far behind, finishing fifth in the same event.

Logan Ellis contributed valuable points to the team’s overall success by placing 10th in the GS and third in the Rail Jam. Quinn Goff also demonstrated his versatility by taking fourth place in the Rail Jam, while Elliot Goff placed seventh.

The snowboarding team is set to carry their winning momentum to their next competition at Jay Peak on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m.

Lake Region Triumphs in Boys Giant Slalom

Lake Region emerged as the overall winner in the Boys Giant Slalom competition. Demonstrating exceptional prowess on the slopes, the team clinched the top spot with a total of 16 points.

Hot on their heels was North Country, securing a close second place with 17 points, followed by BFA who rounded out the top three with a commendable 26 points.
