DUMMERSTON — A routine traffic stop led to the citation of a Wardsboro man for operating a vehicle without a court-ordered ignition interlock device, Vermont State Police said.

Jeffrey Hoyt, 63, was pulled over by a trooper from the Westminster Barracks at around 3:07 p.m. on Jan. 10 after committing a motor vehicle violation on US Route 5 at the intersection with Black Birch Drive.

During the stop, authorities discovered that Hoyt was mandated to use an ignition interlock device, which prevents a vehicle from starting if the driver has been drinking alcohol.

Hoyt received a criminal citation and is scheduled to appear before the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, on Feb. 6, at 8:30 a.m. to face charges related to the violation.
