HINGHAM — A motorist was hospitalized Saturday night after their SUV veered off the road and crashed on Rte. 3A at the rotary.
The Hingham Police Department reported that the single-vehicle accident occurred when the SUV, traveling north from the direction of Cohasset, crossed the center yellow lines before hitting a flashing yellow light and a sign.
A witness at the scene recounted that the vehicle had passed by at a “high rate of speed” just moments before the crash.
Authorities remind drivers that the posted speed limits are set for ideal conditions and that speeds should be reduced accordingly in adverse weather such as snow or ice.
The driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital with injuries.
The extent of the injuries and the current condition of the driver are unknown at this time.
