COLCHESTER — A Rhode Island man was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs on Interstate 89.
Vermont State Police reported that at approximately 12:26 a.m., they received a call about a vehicle failing to maintain its lane while heading south on I-89 in the Town of Milton.
Troopers located the vehicle near mile marker 91 in Colchester and initiated a traffic stop after observing a motor vehicle violation.
The driver, identified as 33-year-old Michael Coscina of Cranston, Rhode Island, exhibited signs of impairment during the interaction with troopers.
After a field screening for DUI, Coscina was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI involving drugs.
He was transported to the Williston Police Department for further evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert and processing.
Following the assessment, Coscina was released with a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date to face the charges.
The Vermont State Police were aided by members of the Williston Police Department during the incident.
