NEWPORT — The North Country Union High School varsity girls basketball team continued their winning streak Thursday evening with a decisive 54-20 victory over Thetford Academy on the road.
Sabine Brueck led the charge with an impressive 19 points, while teammates Maya Auger and Addie Nelson contributed 8 and 7 points, respectively, to secure the win.
The triumph on the court pushed Newport’s record to an impressive 8-1 for the season, signaling a strong position as they prepare to host Randolph on Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. Notably, there will be no junior varsity game on that Tuesday.
In junior varsity action, the NCUHS girls also showcased their prowess, defeating their opponents 47-15.
Danika Phillabaum emerged as the top scorer with 11 points.
Ava Patten added another 7 points, and both Emily Rivard and Katelin Booth chipped in with 6 points each, rounding out a successful night for NCUHS basketball across the board.
