NEWPORT — Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA) recently relocated its Newport Head Start & Early Head Start program to a newly enhanced facility at 76 Lakemont Drive. This move signifies NEKCA’s enduring commitment to delivering exceptional early childhood education and support services in the Newport area.

The new premises offer a spacious and inviting setting, thoughtfully designed to enrich the educational journey for children in the Head Start and Early Head Start programs. This initiative underscores NEKCA’s dedication to providing a nurturing environment conducive to the comprehensive development of children, including their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Head Start is more than a traditional school; it is a community hub promoting school readiness for children. Its services span crucial areas such as early education, health, nutrition, mental health, and tailored support for children with specific needs.

The Newport Head Start program currently has openings for children aged 3-5, along with Home Visiting slots for expecting families and children aged 0-3. Interested families can apply online at https://www.myheadstart.com/pre-app?globalid=5841 or call 1-855-663-5224 for more information.

NEKCA is a non-profit entity devoted to addressing the needs of low-income individuals and families in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. The organization offers a wide array of services, including early childhood education, housing assistance, and nutrition programs, all aimed at empowering individuals and fortifying communities.
