Springfield police arrest man, seize loaded firearm after shots fired

SPRINGFIELD — A Springfield man was arrested early Sunday morning after police responded to a shots fired incident and seized a loaded firearm.

At about 3:25 a.m., Springfield Police Officers, while on late-night entertainment detail, heard gunshots near Dwight and Lyman Streets.

Upon investigating, they found evidence and gathered information about a vehicle involved.

The search led them to the 100 block of Massasoit Street, where the suspect vehicle was parked and running in a driveway.

Officers detained two individuals and discovered spent shell casings inside the car.

A firearm was later found near the trash cans of the home.

Frankie Quinones, 33, was arrested on multiple firearms charges, including carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and improper storage of a firearm.

The second individual was released but will receive a criminal summons to court.

Quinones is currently being held pending arraignment.
