SEEKONK — A Rhode Island man was indicted by a Bristol County grand jury Friday for the armed robbery of a local liquor store and assaulting a clerk with a knife last month.

Gary Tallo, 32, of Johnston, R.I., faces charges of armed robbery while masked and assault with a dangerous weapon, as stated in the court records released.

Tallo allegedly robbed Winn’s Liquors at 12 Brook St. on Dec. 13.

Following the incident, a police officer reportedly spotted him running from the store and arrested him nearby without any incident.

Authorities claimed to have recovered a knife, cash, and other items believed to have been stolen during the robbery.

After his arrest, Tallo pleaded innocent in Taunton District Court.

However, the recent indictment means the case will move to Fall River Superior Court, where Tallo could face stiffer penalties if convicted.

An arraignment date has yet to be scheduled.

Currently held without bail, Tallo was deemed a dangerous individual by a judge, warranting his detention as he awaits trial.

A superior court judge upheld this decision, citing Tallo’s criminal history and the gravity of the charges against him.
