SOUTH HERO — Peter Watson, 49, of South Hero, VT, has been announced as the winner of the 2023 Vermont Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License Lottery.
Watson, selected from 18,425 ticket holders, now has the privilege of hunting and fishing in Vermont for free for the rest of his life.
The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department conducts this annual lottery, offering residents and non-residents a chance to secure a lifelong hunting and fishing license.
“The Lifetime License Lottery is more than just a chance to win; it’s an investment in the conservation of our state’s natural resources,” said Christopher Herrick, Fish and Wildlife Commissioner.
This year’s lottery raised $36,551 from the sales of $2.00 tickets, which, when combined with federal funds, generates over $109,500. These funds are vital for the department’s mission to conserve fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats.
“These funds are crucial for managing sportfish and game animals, protecting endangered species, and conserving wildlife habitats,” Herrick added.
Participants can enter the Lottery by including the $2.00 entry fee when purchasing their license online at vtfishandwildlife.com, at any Vermont hunting, fishing, and trapping license sales location, or through a printable application on the department’s website.
There is no limit to the number of entries a person can submit throughout the year.
