READING — A local man was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including operating under the influence, after being pulled over by Reading Police on Monday night.
Eric Beak, 38, of Reading, was charged with OUI (second offense), possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, uninsured motor vehicle, unregistered motor vehicle, and speeding.
The incident occurred on Jan. 8 at about 10:19 p.m. A Reading Police officer on patrol spotted a blue Subaru Impreza traveling eastbound on Walkers Brook Drive at a high rate of speed.
The officer initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle pulled into a nearby gas station.
Upon speaking with Beak, the driver, the officer noticed an empty alcohol container on the floor of the front seat.
After conducting a field sobriety test, police determined that Beak was operating under the influence.
