LAWRENCE — A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing that occurred Tuesday evening at a McDonald’s in the city, according to Essex County District Attorney Paul F.
Tucker and Acting Chief William Castro.
At around 5 p.m. Tuesday, Lawrence Police were called to the McDonald’s located at 50 Broadway due to reports of an altercation.
Officers found 32-year-old Kendrick Marcus Brown with a stab wound.
Despite receiving immediate medical aid from first responders and being rushed to Lawrence General Hospital, Brown succumbed to his injuries.
Marcos A. Muniz, 47, was arrested and charged with Brown’s murder.
Muniz is expected to face arraignment this morning at Lawrence District Court.
Acting Chief William Castro praised the rapid response and professionalism of the Lawrence Police officers who provided medical assistance, managed the chaotic scene, gathered witness accounts, and initiated the search for the suspect, leading to Muniz’s arrest.
“Their professionalism led to the quick resolution to this case, including removing this dangerous individual off of the streets,” Castro stated.
Castro expressed his gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, the staff, and the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the case.
He also conveyed his hope that the arrest might help the victim’s family in their healing process and extended condolences on behalf of the Lawrence Police Department.
The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing, conducted jointly by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office State Police Detective Unit and the Lawrence Police Department detectives.
