READING — Two individuals have been arrested and charged with operating under the influence (OUI) in separate incidents over the weekend, according to the Reading Police Department.
A 30-year-old Reading woman was charged on Friday, Jan. 5, with OUI liquor second offense, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, license suspended for OUI, marked lanes violation, and speeding following a motor vehicle crash on John Street at approximately 10:36 p.m.
Responding officers discovered a gray Land Rover had collided with a telephone pole.
The driver, who had exited the vehicle before police arrival, was being assisted by witnesses.
While no injuries were reported, the driver was taken to an area hospital as a precaution.
She received a summons and will appear for arraignment in Woburn District Court at a later date.
In a separate incident on Saturday, Jan. 6, at around 9:40 p.m., Luka Nikita Charles Powers, 23, of Wakefield, was arrested after Reading Police were dispatched to the scene of a crash on Main Street (Route 28) near Bethesda Lane.
Officers found a 2016 Volvo SUV overturned and a damaged telephone pole with exposed wires on the road.
