PELHAM — A routine traffic stop for multiple violations on Rt 202 Wednesday evening led to the arrest of a juvenile from Springfield and a criminal complaint against the vehicle’s operator, Pelham Police Department officials reported.
During the stop, officers determined that the driver was operating with a suspended license.
As protocol dictates, an inventory was conducted before the vehicle could be towed, revealing a backpack in the back passenger area.
Inside the backpack, officers discovered a case containing several baggies of a substance suspected to be heroin.
The find prompted further investigation, which resulted in the arrest of the juvenile found to be associated with the narcotics.
The operator, whose license had been suspended, was issued a criminal complaint.
The names of the individuals involved have not been released, and the case is currently under further investigation.
