Manchester shooting ruled a homicide, autopsy confirms gunshot wound as cause of death

MANCHESTER — An autopsy conducted on Tuesday confirmed the death of 26-year-old Sophia Bonfiglio, who was shot on New Year’s Eve, as a homicide resulting from a single gunshot wound to her torso.

Manchester police were called to the scene on Amherst Street at around 2 p.m. on Dec. 31, where they found Ms. Bonfiglio with critical injuries.

She was quickly transported to Elliot Hospital, where despite several hours of treatment, she was declared dead at approximately 4:30 p.m.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office completed the autopsy on Jan. 2, which led to the confirmation of the cause and manner of her death.

In connection with the shooting, Tyler Cook, 26, who resided at the same address as Bonfiglio, was arrested and charged with manslaughter for recklessly causing her death.

Cook was arraigned at Hillsborough County Superior Court- North and remains in custody without bail.
