Littleton police investigate vehicle-bicycle crash, cyclist seriously injured

LITTLETON — A serious collision involving a motor vehicle and a bicycle prompted a response from the Littleton Police Department on Wednesday morning.

At about 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 3, emergency personnel from both the Littleton Police and Fire Departments were called to a crash at 119 King St. Upon arrival, officers found a 70-year-old recumbent bicyclist with injuries deemed serious.

The injured cyclist was initially transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center by ambulance and subsequently airlifted to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington for further treatment.

The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old, was unharmed and cooperated with authorities at the scene.

For the course of the investigation, a segment of King Street, from New Estate Road to Kimball Street, was temporarily closed.

As investigators gathered evidence and documented the crash site, traffic was redirected.

The incident remains under investigation by the Littleton Police Department to determine the cause and any contributing factors.
