LAWRENCE— A 53-year-old man was arrested on charges of being a fugitive from justice in connection with a Christmas Day murder, Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker announced.
Santana Guerrero Temporo was detained in Texas for the murder of Diosmary Mejia, which occurred on Dec. 25.
He is expected to be arraigned next week on the charge of Fugitive from Justice.
The swift arrest followed collaborative efforts by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office and the Lawrence Police Department.
Acting Chief William Castro of the Lawrence Police Department expressed his gratitude for the dedication of the investigators involved in the case.
“I am extremely grateful to investigators from the Massachusetts State Police assigned to Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s Office, and the Lawrence Police Department for their hard work and dedication that brought a quick resolution to this case,” Castro said. “It is my hope that the fact that this individual is now in custody will aid the family in the healing process.”
Castro also extended condolences to the family of Mejia on behalf of the Lawrence Police Department, acknowledging the tragic loss they suffered.
