ST. JOHNSBURY — A two-vehicle accident occurred on Memorial Drive near Freihofers Bakery Outlet on Dec. 27, resulting in moderate damage to both cars and minor injuries to one driver.

According to the Vermont State Police, a 16-year-old driver from St. Johnsbury failed to notice Sabrina Gilmore, 31, also of St. Johnsbury, stopping her 2018 KIA to turn into the bakery’s parking lot amid rainy conditions and wet roads.

In an attempt to avoid a rear-end collision, the juvenile swerved their 2013 Ford Edge into the oncoming lane, striking the driver’s side of Gilmore’s vehicle before coming to a stop in the Maple Center Motors parking lot.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Gilmore sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH).

The juvenile driver did not report any injuries.

State police are investigating the incident, and no charges have been reported at this time.

The parked vehicle involved in the accident was not occupied, and details on its condition were not immediately available.

Traffic on Memorial Drive was affected for a short period while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
