ST. JOHNSBURY — A 32-year-old East Haven man was charged with simple assault following an incident at a local discount store, police said.
According to the Vermont State Police, troopers were called to the Ocean State Job Lot on Memorial Drive at approximately 1:32 p.m. on Dec. 20 after reports of an assault.
Upon arrival, they determined that Damyon Norway had assaulted 50-year-old Derek Lehman, also of East Haven, while inside the store.
Troopers met with Norway on Dec. 26 and issued him a citation to appear in Caledonia County Criminal Court.
He is scheduled to answer to the charge of simple assault.
The motive behind the assault was not immediately clear, and no further details regarding the incident were provided.
The court date for Norway to appear before the judge has yet to be announced.
The investigation into the assault is ongoing.
