MANCHESTER — A routine traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase that ended in a crash near the Mall of New Hampshire late Tuesday night, resulting in the arrest of two men.
At about 11:15 p.m. on Dec. 19, Trooper Moran of the New Hampshire State Police Troop B stopped a vehicle for speeding on the Exit 1 off-ramp on Interstate 293.
When Moran approached the car to speak with the driver, the vehicle suddenly fled onto S.
Willow Street, prompting a brief pursuit.
The chase quickly escalated when the fleeing vehicle turned into the Mall of New Hampshire’s access road, driving against traffic.
It collided with a motorist making a left turn into the mall parking lot.
The suspects’ vehicle spun out and hit another stopped car at the intersection.
Two men exited the crashed vehicle and ran toward the mall.
The passenger was caught by Trooper Moran shortly after the crash.
The driver surrendered to additional troopers and a K-9 team near the Macy’s building shortly thereafter.
The driver, identified as 21-year-old Avian Farrell, and the passenger, 18-year-old Ra King Santiago, both from Manchester, were found to have multiple outstanding warrants.
They were detained on preventative detention due to the warrants and now face new charges, including Reckless Conduct, Disobeying an Officer, and Resisting Arrest.
Farrell and Santiago were taken to local hospitals for injuries from the crash.
The other motorists involved were reported not to have been injured.
The two suspects are scheduled for a court appearance at Hillsborough Superior Court later this morning.
