BOSTON — Boston police apprehended 23-year-old Sylvester Forde of South Boston on charges related to firearm possession and armed robbery on Monday morning.
At approximately 10:38 a.m., officers from District B-2 in Roxbury responded to a call reporting an individual with a gun near 64A Blue Hill Avenue, where a convenience store had just been robbed.
With a suspect description and direction of escape provided by Boston Police Operations, officers located Forde at the intersection of Perrin Street and Waverly Street.
Upon approaching Forde, officers reportedly saw the handle of a firearm protruding from his jacket pocket.
Forde was detained, and a Polymer 80 handgun with a round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine was confiscated.
Facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and armed robbery, Forde is slated for arraignment in Roxbury District Court.
