SANBORNTON — A two-vehicle collision on Interstate 93 resulted in the death of a Pittsfield man and the arrest of a Franklin woman on charges of driving while intoxicated late Friday night.
New Hampshire State Police responded to calls of the crash southbound on I-93 at mile marker 63 around 10:28 p.m. Upon arrival, troopers found an Audi Q5 down an embankment and a Volkswagen Jetta in the median.
The Jetta’s driver, 24-year-old Gabriel Anthony of Pittsfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kristina Perry, 38, of Franklin, driving the Audi, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed Anthony’s vehicle was stopped in the breakdown lane, and he was outside the vehicle when both he and the Jetta were struck by Perry’s Audi.
Perry was taken into custody for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and is being held without bail.
She is scheduled to appear at the Belknap Superior Court on Dec. 18.
The crash led to the closure of one lane on I-93 for about six hours.
The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit, local fire departments, police, the Department of Transportation, and bystanders provided assistance at the scene.
Authorities have urged anyone with additional information to contact Trooper Eric Torrens.
