BROOKLINE — Two individuals, one adult and one juvenile, were arrested Dec. 14 on suspicion of running a fraudulent home improvement scheme in the local area.
The scam involved the suspects going door-to-door, offering masonry work but then intentionally damaging homes to defraud owners, according to Brookline police.
Victims were provided with quotes from non-existent companies, including a firm by the name of “Logan Masonry & Roofing,” which advertised services through flyers with a fake website.
The two arrested are believed to have conned several residents, swindling them out of thousands of dollars by larceny through false pretense.
Detective Shinai Hattori, leading the investigation, linked the suspects to a group known as the “Irish Travelers,” who are thought to be involved in various similar scams across the region.
Brookline Police Department’s detectives are urging anyone who may have fallen prey to these fraudsters to come forward and contact them at 617-730-2244.
