MANCHESTER — A Manchester man was arrested late Thursday night after a standoff with police following a domestic incident.
At approximately 9:25 p.m., Manchester Police were called to a residence on Lowell Street after receiving reports of a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, they spoke with a woman outside the home who reported an altercation with Tyler Newman, 30, also of Manchester.
According to the woman’s statement, Newman had prevented her from leaving, assaulted and threatened her, and damaged some of her property during the argument.
Newman had barricaded himself inside the apartment by the time officers reached the scene and refused to exit the premises.
A perimeter was established around the location as SWAT team members were called in to assist.
After making several announcements urging Newman to surrender, a police negotiator successfully established phone contact with him.
Following hours of negotiation, Newman exited the apartment and was detained by SWAT officers without further incident.
Newman now faces charges including Felony Criminal Restraint and Falsifying Physical Evidence.
Additionally, he has been charged with three counts of Simple Assault, two counts of Criminal Mischief, Criminal Threatening, and Resisting Arrest.
Newman is currently being held pending arraignment.
