ARLINGTON — Vermont State Police arrested an Arlington man Wednesday evening on charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

Authorities were alerted to a potential collision near the intersection of routes 313 and 7A in Arlington at approximately 5:17 p.m.

The caller reported that one vehicle involved had left the scene, allegedly continuing toward the driver’s home.

State troopers responded and located the accused, 65-year-old Anthony Defarlo, at his Arlington residence.

During the encounter, officers noted signs of impairment and took Defarlo into custody on suspicion of DUI and LSA (leaving the scene of an accident).

Defarlo was processed at the Shaftsbury Barracks and later released with a citation.

He is scheduled to appear at the Bennington County Superior Court—Criminal Division to respond to the charges.

The date for the appearance was not immediately provided.
