NEWBURY — Vermont State Police arrested a 41-year-old Newbury man on an active warrant Monday evening after he was discovered hiding under a camper on his property.
Troopers arrived at the Jefferson Hl residence at 7:07 p.m. seeking to apprehend John Kawalec, who failed to appear in court for a previous charge.
Kawalec had also violated court-ordered conditions of release, which required him to attend court as scheduled.
Upon investigation, officers found Kawalec concealed underneath a camper.
He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the St. Johnsbury Barracks for processing.
Following processing, Kawalec was brought to Northeastern Regional Corrections and held on bail pending further legal action.
