HARTFORD — A metal money clip containing a large sum of cash was found in the parking lot of the Interstate 91 Hartford Welcome Center, Vermont State Police reported Wednesday.
The discovery was made on July 27, when employees at the welcome center reached out to the authorities after coming across the unclaimed money clip.
Despite being in possession of the lost item for some time, no one has approached the center to claim ownership.
Vermont State Police are asking anyone who believes the money clip may belong to them to contact the Royalton Barracks.
Claimants will be required to provide proof of ownership, including details of the engraving on the metal clip, to verify their claim to the cash.
Authorities have not disclosed the exact amount of money found but suggest that it is a significant sum.
The rightful owner or anyone with information relevant to the found property is encouraged to get in touch with the Vermont State Police to resolve the matter.
