West Springfield police seek witnesses, video in hit-and-run involving teen

WEST SPRINGFIELD — The West Springfield Police Traffic Bureau is asking for the public’s help in locating a white SUV involved in a hit-and-run that injured a 15-year-old pedestrian on Dec. 10 at around 4:52 p.m.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Piper Rd and Amostown Rd, where the teen was struck by the vehicle while running in the crosswalk.

The SUV, which was turning left to head north on Piper Rd, hit the young male and continued northwest on Amostown Rd without stopping.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was later taken to the hospital by family members for an evaluation.

Investigators are urging residents in the vicinity of Piper Rd and Amostown Rd to review their doorbell or surveillance camera footage for any evidence that might assist in identifying the suspect vehicle.

Officer Shawn Knox is leading the inquiry, and the police are requesting anyone with relevant information to contact him at 263-3210.
