WATERBURY — The Vermont State Police are investigating extensive vandalism at the Dascomb P. Rowe Athletic Fields reported on Dec. 11 at around 10 a.m.
Authorities were alerted to the incident after receiving multiple reports of damage.
Upon their arrival, troopers found significant harm had been inflicted upon the property.
Leads were obtained thanks to vigilant Waterbury residents who provided vehicle descriptions and a photograph of a vehicle’s registration plate.
The accused parties are a group of juveniles from Waitsfield and Waterbury, whose ages have not been disclosed due to their minor status.
The nature of the vandalism has been classified as Gross Negligent Operations, indicating a severe level of recklessness in the actions leading to the destruction of the athletic fields.
The Vermont State Police have expressed their gratitude toward the Waterbury community for their cooperation and assistance in identifying the suspects.
The Town of Waterbury, recognized as the victim in this case, is currently assessing the full extent of the damage to plan for repairs and restoration.
