CORNWALL — A single-vehicle rollover crash on VT Route 125 near Hamblin Road led to multiple injuries and the arrest of a Bridport woman on charges including DUI and reckless endangerment, police said.

At approximately 12:04 p.m. on Dec. 10, state troopers responded to the scene where a 2007 Toyota Camry operated by Samantha Burnett, 21, had overturned multiple times on the wet roadway amidst the rain.

Burnett, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered suspected minor injuries and was taken to Porter Medical Center.

The investigation indicated that Burnett was attempting to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her car.

Upon interacting with Burnett, troopers noted signs of drug impairment.

After being screened at the hospital, Burnett consented to a blood draw for evidence.

Four passengers in Burnett’s vehicle were also injured in the crash.

Kelsey Austin, 18, and Donny Austin, 27, both from Bridport sustained suspected minor injuries.

A 13-year-old juvenile from New Haven, and a 1-year-old from Bridport, were also in the car.

The juvenile suffered minor injuries, while the infant was unharmed.

All injured parties were taken to Porter Medical Center for evaluation.

Burnett was released with a citation to appear in Addison County Superior Court, Criminal Division, to face charges for DUI (Drugs), Negligent Operation, and Reckless Endangerment of her passengers.

Emergency responders from the Cornwall Fire Department, Middlebury Fire Department, and Middlebury Rescue Squad assisted troopers at the crash site.
