Dedham police seize drugs in traffic stop, one arrested

DEDHAM — After weeks of surveillance tied to an investigation into local narcotics sales, Dedham detectives conducted a traffic stop on East Street on Dec. 8, leading to a significant drug seizure and an arrest.

During the operation, officers stopped a black Toyota Avalon.

The search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 61 grams of fentanyl, 8 grams of cocaine, and 16 grams of crack cocaine.

The substances are classified as Class A and Class B drugs, respectively.

The driver of the Avalon was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop For Police, Destruction of Evidence, Trafficking Class A Fentanyl, Trafficking Class B Cocaine, and having an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker.

The Dedham Police Department has not released the name of the individual arrested as the investigation is ongoing.

The department reaffirms its commitment to combating the distribution and use of illegal narcotics in the community.
