Pownal residents charged with assault, disorderly conduct at Dollar General

POWNAL — Two local residents were cited for simple assault and disorderly conduct following a brawl at a Dollar General store on Monday evening, according to Vermont State Police.

Authorities were called to the scene at 5:49 p.m. after reports of a large fight involving multiple individuals.

The confrontation reportedly began inside the store with a verbal argument and escalated to physical violence outside.

Shawn Mateo, 43, and Brianna Lown, 26, both from Pownal, were identified as the accused.

They have been summoned to appear in the Vermont Superior Court Bennington Criminal Division on Jan. 22 at 8:15 a.m.

The victims of the altercation, James Roberts, 40, and Tamika Amidon-Pratt, 24, also Pownal residents, did not require immediate medical attention.

State Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
