HYDE PARK — Officers from Boston Police District E-18 responded to reports of shots fired near 1409 River Street early Saturday morning, finding ballistic evidence but no injuries.

The incident occurred around 5:08 a.m. when police were called to the scene.

During the search for potential suspects or victims related to the gunfire, officers were alerted to an attempted theft of several motor vehicles in the area, which had been left running to warm up in the cold weather.

Following a description of the suspects, which was broadcast to all responding officers, detectives arrived at the intersection of Beaver Street and Cleveland Street.

They were informed that the suspects had moved the vehicles up the street.

Shortly after, officers at the initial shooting scene spotted four individuals matching the suspect descriptions.

All four were detained and handcuffed.

The suspects, identified as Jay Moses, 27, from Dorchester; Diamond Carter, 27, from Boston; Justin Creech, 24, from West Roxbury; and Thomas Perkins, 24, from Hyde Park, were arrested and charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and attempted larceny of a motor vehicle.

They are slated for arraignment in West Roxbury District Court.

The Boston Police Department continues to investigate both the shooting and the attempted thefts.

They encourage anyone with information to contact the District E-18 Detectives at 617-343-5607.
