WOBURN — Police arrested a 28-year-old Chelsea man on multiple narcotics-related charges Wednesday after an undercover operation by the Woburn Police Vice/Narcotics Unit and the Woburn Police Detective Bureau.
The operation, part of a fatal overdose investigation, led to the man’s arrest for Trafficking in Cocaine and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class A Controlled Substance (Fentanyl).
During the arrest, officers seized over 60 grams of Cocaine and more than 5 grams of Fentanyl, which was unusually colored purple.
The appearance of purple Fentanyl, though not widespread in the local area, has been noted by law enforcement over the past year and has been present in other parts of the United States for several years.
The operation on Nov. 29 underscores the ongoing effort by Woburn police to combat the distribution of narcotics and the associated overdose risks in the community.
