HOLLIS — A local woman was apprehended Tuesday evening after officers observed her driving the wrong way in Monument Square, according to the Hollis Police Department.
At around 5:40 p.m. on Nov. 29, a Hollis officer stationed at Monument Square witnessed a vehicle entering the area on the incorrect side of the road.
The officer pursued the vehicle, which continued for approximately a quarter mile before coming to a stop near Nichols Field.
The driver, identified as 43-year-old Anastasiya Alekseyeva of Hollis, exhibited signs of impairment, including the smell of alcohol emanating from the vehicle.
Alekseyeva reportedly became uncooperative and did not follow the officer’s instructions, resulting in her being taken into custody.
Following her arrest, Alekseyeva was processed at the Hollis Police Department and later released on personal recognizance bail.
She faces charges for driving under the influence (DUI) and violating open container laws.
Her arraignment is scheduled at the 9th Circuit Court, Nashua District.
This incident marks the 47th DUI-related arrest made by Hollis Police in the year.
