BARNSTABLE — A woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries from an apparent gunshot wound Thursday evening in what police are describing as a targeted incident.
The Barnstable Police Department received a report around 5:30 p.m. from Hamden Circle about a female victim with gunshot injuries.
Officers from both the Patrol Division and Investigative Services Division were dispatched to the scene to commence an active and ongoing investigation.
The injured woman was promptly transported to Cape Cod Hospital by Hyannis Fire Department rescue personnel.
She is currently receiving treatment for her injuries.
Authorities have not released any details regarding a suspect or motive, but they have emphasized that the shooting does not seem to be a random act of violence.
