NEWPORT — The annual Northsong Christmas concert, a cherished holiday tradition in the Northeast Kingdom for 41 years, is set to return with performances on Friday, December 1, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, December 3, at 4 p.m., at the United Church of Newport.
The 38-member chamber choir, based in Newport, will feature Bob Chilcott’s “Jubilate” and two movements from Giacomo Puccini’s “Missa di Gloria” in their program. Both pieces are known for their joyous celebration, fitting for the festive season.
The concert will also include ten new arrangements, blending familiar carols with newly composed pieces. Highlights include “The First Nowell,” “Wassail,” “A Child of Hope,” and “In Dulci Jubilo.”
Under the direction of conductor Anne K. Hamilton and accompanied by Vivian Spates, the concert promises to be a heartwarming event, continuing its legacy as the holiday season kick-off for many in the area.
Admission is by a suggested donation of $5. For more information about the concert, interested parties can email Ms. Hamilton at [email protected].
