WAKEFIELD — Over the weekend, Wakefield Police Department conducted intense speed patrols on Route 16, resulting in 36 motor vehicle stops, the majority for speeding violations.
During the operation, officers handed out citations to nine drivers for exceeding the speed limit by 18 to 39 miles per hour.
Notably, on Friday, officers apprehended a driver traveling at 94 mph in a 55 mph zone near Max’s Cutoff.
The individual was arrested on charges of DUI, Aggravated DUI, and Speed, and was taken into custody.
The fines for the speeding offenses totaled $2,790.00.
The Wakefield Police Department continues to urge drivers to adhere to speed limits and prioritize safety on the roads, reminding the community that speeding can lead to significant fines and legal consequences.
