Tewksbury police seek suspect in armed convenience store robbery

TEWKSBURY — Police Chief Ryan Columbus reports that the Tewksbury Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Sunday night at a store on Woburn Street, and the department is asking for public assistance as they seek to identify a suspect.

On Sunday, Nov. 19, at approximately 8:37 p.m., Tewksbury Police were called to Andy’s Convenience, 420 Woburn St., for a report of an armed robbery.

Officers arrived to learn that a man had brandished what appeared to be a large-capacity firearm as he demanded cash and other items from a clerk.

The suspect then ran across Woburn Street and into a wooded area.

He is described as a male in his mid-20s, wearing a black sweatshirt with white strings, black pants, a navy blue backpack, and white and black Nike sneakers with an orange or red swoosh.

The suspect brandished a Tec9-style firearm with an extended magazine.

Tewksbury Police continue to actively investigate this incident and are releasing video surveillance and images to the public in an effort to generate tips about the suspect’s identity.
