EAST LONGMEADOW — A woman was injured in a hit-and-run incident Thursday night after her car ran out of gas and she was struck by an unknown vehicle while trying to flag down help.
East Longmeadow Police responded to the intersection of Elm St and Hanward Hill around 8:50 p.m. after receiving reports of an adult female lying in the roadway.
Officers, assisted by the East Longmeadow Fire Department, treated the woman at the scene before she was transported to Baystate Medical Center.
The severity of her injuries has not been disclosed.
According to the initial investigation, the woman’s vehicle had run out of fuel, prompting her to seek assistance from passing drivers.
Evidence at the scene indicated that the suspect vehicle is likely a Mercedes with anticipated front-end damage, particularly to the front grill.
The East Longmeadow Police Detective Bureau is actively investigating the case in collaboration with the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services and the Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis Unit.
