AUBURN — A police officer suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning when their cruiser was struck by another vehicle while responding to a call.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:10 a.m. as Auburn Police Officers were dispatched to a reported disturbance at a business on Route 20.
With blue lights and sirens activated, the officers headed eastbound in marked patrol vehicles.
According to preliminary investigation reports and eyewitness statements, a Honda CRV in front of the police cruiser failed to move to the right and made a sudden left turn into the cruiser’s path.
The collision sent the police vehicle crashing into a brick wall beside Route 20.
The driver of the Honda CRV was not injured in the accident.
The officer involved was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and has since been discharged.
The Honda CRV’s operator received a citation for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.
The crash is still under investigation by the CEMLEC Accident Reconstruction Unit.
