SUNDERLAND — A Brielle, New Jersey, man walked away unscathed after his vehicle collided with a deer on US Route 7 on Nov. 11.
Robert Weinstein, 57, was driving a 2019 Volvo XC60 southbound around 4:52 p.m. when a deer darted into the road.
The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage, but Weinstein, who was wearing his seatbelt, was not injured, Vermont State Police reported.
Troopers from the Shaftsbury Barracks, who received the call shortly after the incident occurred, found the vehicle in the roadway and the deceased deer on the side of the road.
Weather conditions were clear, and the road was dry at the time of the crash.
Authorities closed part of the highway to handle the incident, with the Arlington Fire Department and Paul’s towing from Manchester assisting on the scene.
The Vermont State Police remind drivers to be vigilant for wildlife crossing roadways.
