BLANDFORD –– A man was rescued from the woods in Blandford on Saturday after being accidentally shot with an arrow by his hunting partner, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m. off Russell Stage Road, north of the 32.4-mile marker on the Mass Pike.
The injured hunter’s partner alerted the authorities, prompting a two-hour rescue operation that involved local and state agencies.
By 5 p.m., Westfield EMS had transported the wounded man to a nearby hospital.
His condition and the extent of his injuries were not immediately disclosed.
The rescue operation included Russell Police and Fire Departments, the state Police, the Environmental Police, and the MSP Drone Unit, demonstrating a coordinated response to the unfortunate incident.
