PITTSFIELD –– Local police have identified human remains found in Wahconah Park as 43-year-old Luis Lopez-Lopez.
The remains were discovered on Oct. 10, at around 10:44 a.m. by a city employee who was cutting brush in the park.
The Pittsfield Police Department (PPD) responded to the scene, which is not part of the Wahconah Park baseball field.
The case was handed over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which on Oct. 27 identified the remains as Lopez-Lopez.
The cause and manner of his death remain unknown.
Lopez-Lopez had recent listed addresses in both Pittsfield and Greenfield, according to authorities.
PPD officers have since informed his family about his passing.
PPD is urging anyone who might have information about the case to get in touch.
