HOLYOKE — A 31-year-old woman from Holyoke, Massachusetts, has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that left another woman seriously injured last week, according to local law enforcement.
On Oct. 26, at around 10:00 p.m., officers were alerted by a concerned citizen to a stabbing incident in an alley on Sargeant St. Upon arrival at the scene, they found a female victim with multiple stab wounds to her head and body.
Officers immediately began rendering medical aid while awaiting the arrival of an ambulance.
The victim was subsequently transported to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries.
In the wake of the incident, detectives launched an investigation to gather information on a possible suspect.
Their investigation led them to identify the suspect as Francheska Vazquez, 31, of Holyoke.
Authorities sought a warrant for Vazquez’s arrest on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, assault to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, specifically a firearm, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a knife.
On Nov. 1, Massachusetts State Police took Vazquez into custody on the Holyoke District Court warrant.
The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement continues to piece together the circumstances surrounding the incident.
