WESTFIELD — A single-vehicle accident on Vermont Route 242 in Westfield early Tuesday morning claimed the life of a Montgomery resident.
John Koloshey, 56, of Montgomery, was driving eastbound around 8:17 a.m. on Oct. 31 when his 2016 Hyundai Accent left the roadway, entered the eastbound ditch, and collided with a driveway culvert. The vehicle sustained moderate front contact damage and came to an uncontrolled stop in the eastbound lane of Vermont Route 242.
The Vermont State Police were notified of the incident and arrived on the scene to find Koloshey, the vehicle’s sole occupant, severely injured. He was swiftly transported to Northwest Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.
With overcast skies reported, road conditions at the time were dry. Koloshey was wearing his seatbelt.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities are urging any witnesses or those with information to contact the Vermont State Police at 802-878-7111.
